Waagacusub.net - Among the desperate and appalling chronicle of horrors presented by Somali arrested refugees in soccer camp at Nairobi this week, was the chilling testimony of a young woman called Faduma Abdi Yare, sent to a prison soccer refugee camp after being arrested from Isleigh Nairobi, stands out. A two pregnant Somali woman gave birth at Soccer Camp Center on Sunday morning.
Faduma Abdi’s her son is the first baby from a mother fleeing Somalia’s civil war to be born in Soccer Camp.

When the mother realized there was no one in Kenyan Soccer camp who could deliver her, she asked to be taken to the Nairobi, where she hoped doctors would pick her up and send her to a medical center, she said.

"I was very afraid to ask help, but I was even more worried about giving birth at Refugee Soccer Camp by myself,” she added.

The 20-year-old mother was in the early stages of labor when the Kenyan Security forces arrested and quickly transferred her from the Isleigh Nairobi, where she was living in a one bed room apartment, to Soccer Camp at 30 Km away from Nairobi.

This week, there were a lot of Somali women have been among the thousands of civilians arrested by Kenyan security forces and seeking medical care in refugee soccer camp at Nairobi.

The mother, who said she was herself a nurse, gave birth to a healthy, 3.2-kg baby.

"The baby was crying as it was born; we were so curious, this was the first time we saw a baby being born in Soccer camp. So we were watching this baby and we were so happy and worried too. But suddenly we heard the footsteps," refugee witness said. The footsteps belonged to a Kenyan security guard, who ordered the mother to shut up her baby.
"I do feel like I am in an enemy concentration camp,” she said. "The Kenyan security staff aren’t helping me and don’t worrying about me.”

The Somali woman said there is a severe food shortage in the camp, and her child doesn’t have a food, water clean close and adequate medications.
